California Senate Bill 574 (SB 574) Compliance

California Senate Bill 574 (effective January 1, 2027) enacts statutory standards governing generative artificial intelligence in the California legal profession, including California Business and Professions Code Section 6068.1 and amendments to California Code of Civil Procedure Section 128.7:

Prohibition Against Delegating Legal Practice (B&PC § 6068.1(a)): Attorneys are strictly prohibited from delegating the practice of law to generative AI. All legal strategies, issue formulations, and advocacy decisions remain the non-delegable duty and sole work product of counsel of record.
Mandatory Court Disclosure (B&PC § 6068.1(d)): Attorneys are required by law to disclose the use of generative AI to the court for all documents submitted in a legal proceeding. Draft Master equips all California pleading exports with standard, court-compliant SB 574 disclosure declarations.
Personal Citation Verification (CCP § 128.7): SB 574 amends CCP § 128.7 to require that counsel of record personally read and verify each legal and statutory citation before filing.
